Steve Jobs promised "thermonuclear war" in Android. Apple has just press the big red button by removing YouTube of the future version of IOS. The firm at the apple replaces a by a Google services installed by default in IOS. After Google Maps in June 2012, it was the turn of disappearing from YouTube the latest beta of iOS 6, the final version to be presented on September 12 with the iPhone 5.
In a statement, Apple tries to justify himself blandly: "Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS comes to an end. "It had been five years since the release of the first iPhone, the two companies worked together and that Google applications are integrated by default in the operating system from Apple.
Divorce is consumed
This new IOS does 6. Based devices with older versions of IOS will keep YouTube and Google Maps. Of course, even iOS 6, we can always continue to use YouTube by downloading the application from the App Store or through its mobile version available in Safari.
Why such a divorce? Apple and Google have everything to gain. Upon recovering his freedom, Google may modify the application for iOS YouTube without waiting for agreement from Apple and so reap without sharing revenue from advertising pre-roll, just before the start of videos. Result: The user gains in beauty with 3D maps that the mouse is hovered (Fly Over), but loses Google Street View. Better aesthetics than practical? For sure the consumer sure winner.
