Its was a very neat trick played by Google when they sent invites for the October 29 Android Event. Since Microsoft was also going to unveil "next generation of Windows Phone" at the same day, Google wanted to take all the news coverage. Furthermore, Google planned their event 3 hours prior to Microsoft's event.
But all in vain now
New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo, on Friday declared a state of emergency in response to incoming storm, and Google's event was set to take place on a waterfront pier, which is now in an evacuation zone. Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 launch we'll be held in San Francisco which should be able to evade Sandy's wrath.
Seems like God is helping Windows Phone 8 to have a headline on 29th when it is released.
It's like second time when Google is postponing their events. Last year they moved its Ice Cream Sandwich event after the death of Late Steve Jobs. We'll let you know what Google plans to reschedule.
Update: Google provided the following statement about the event tomorrow:
We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more.
