Between the project supported by Apple and the number of operators and Nokia, Motorola and RIM built in reaction, nano-SIM format could not emerge from the last meeting of ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) end March 2012.
Against the danger of creating two separate, incompatible standards, or perhaps the fear that the proposed Apple finally pass through the support of operators, RIM and Motorola seem to have sought the path of compromise and reconciliation of the two project.
The two companies have proposed a revised draft incorporating much of the concept pushed by Apple and embellished with some modifications of the alternative project papers submitted by device manufacturers.
