On Twitter, sponsored tweets are messages that an advertiser has decided to disseminate to a wider audience. Advertisers will now be able to better target their sponsored tweets. After being tested by a small group of advertisers, ad targeting is now open to all.
Among the options proposed, targeting at different times, customization based on the geographical location of users. Advertisers can also choose to target only mobile users.
"This improvement will enable brands to reach specific audiences on Twitter, without having to send a tweet to all subscribers," said Kevin Weil, product manager at Twitter.
Earlier this year, Twitter began to display sponsored tweets in its applications for iOS and Android. The microblogging service has subsequently allowed advertisers to target twittos by going beyond the sole subscribers to their account and depending on the device used.
