Facebook: 8.7% of fake accounts?

At the last presentation of financial results, the social network Facebook has claimed 955 million active customers, including 543 million users using their mobile to access the service (which is not his business in terms of advertising revenues ), in which only pass 102 million by a mobile terminal.

Of these, some accounts are not legitimate and their proportion of the whole debate is based. In an effort to clarify, Facebook gave its own estimate and estimated 8.7% rate of atypical or accounts not meeting the network's charter.

This represents 83 million accounts, up significantly compared to 5-6% previously estimated in March but is actually a refinement of measures. The 8.7% of fake accounts are detailed by Facebook as follows:
4.8% of duplicate accounts (in addition to a main account)
2.4% of atypical accounts (accounts representing a non-human or animal)
1.5% of unwanted accounts (accounts created to send spam, for example)

Attacked on its business model, with the problem of the growing share of mobile users are spending more through the Web site Facebook.com called into question and the click-counting that would be the work of more bots than humans, social network wants to show he has a strong user base "real" and capable of generating revenues for the company.

At a time when its course is battered stock market (now below 21 dollars), Facebook is absolutely reassure advertisers on the prospects that represent its subscribers and the fact that their ads are seen by real people.
