A Material lighter than Air, this could be a new Technological Breakthrough

German scientists have proven not all Technological Breakthroughs come from the Apple (Mostly all comes from them). They have developed a substance which is lighter than air. It is a well stable material called Aerographite which is made mostly of Air. This new invention could make gadgets more worthwhile.

The jet-black, non-transparent porous carbon material — which was created by scientists at Kiel University and Hamburg University of Technology — was detailed in the July edition of scientific journal Advanced Materials.

It weighs 0.2 milligrams for each square cubic centimeter, making it the lightest material in the World.

“Our work is causing great discussions in the scientific community. Aerographite weights four times less than world-record-holder up to now,” Matthias Mecklenburg, co-author and Ph.D. student at the TUHH, said on Kiel University’s web site.

Another interesting fact about this material is when you will compress aerographite it will bounce back to its natural state without any damage. It is interesting to note that most other element weaken when subjected to stress.

When it is newly constructed, it absorbs most of the light rays almost completely, as a result giving a darker black.
