SMS banned for ... walking!

This is a study co-directed by Eric Lamberg, a researcher at Stony Brook University, who served as the basis for this law.

This showed that the people writing SMS while walking in the street are 60% greater chance to deviate from their initial trajectory and thus hitting someone or, worse, of being hit by a vehicle, because their inattention.

That's why the city of Fort Lee, New Jersey, United States, formally banned its 35,000 inhabitants to send text messages while walking in the street.
