These are two programs phenomena. VLC Media Player and Angry Birds have reached their separate the staggering figure of one billion downloads this week. Of course, this figure includes all versions combined software and all platforms, be it a computer or mobile phone. Aside from this figure, the two programs have radically opposed models: VLC is a free multimedia utility developed as open source GNU, then qu'Angry Birds is a series of free and paid games developed by the company Rovio. Most impressive is that it took 11 years to reach the VLC billion downloads Birds qu'Angry then realized the same performance in two and a half years only!
